In our history, PMC has been at the forefront of groundbreaking change in the world of basketball. At the 2003 NBA All-Star weekend, Commissioner David Stern announced that he was changing the existing language of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) to allow foreign players who are 18 years old prior to the draft to be eligible for the draft. This allowed our client, Darko Milicic, to enter the 2003 NBA draft and become the highest drafted European ever as the #2 pick. The NBA made this revolutionary change after months of an aggressive media campaign as well as negotiation and deliberation with Marc Cornstein and the PMC team.
In the summer of 1999, for the first time in history, the Federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) and the NBA were involved in a dispute that required an international arbitrator in London. The player involved was Aleksander Radojevic, the 12th overall selection in the 1999 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors.
PMC put together a legal team that included eight attorneys from four different countries. We won the decision and our client spent no out-of-pocket money during the entire legal hearing.
Unfortunately, athletes today need legal protection due to their high profile status in society. PMC has proven to the world that our legal team is the best in the business. While it is our hope that our clients do not require these services, it is comforting to know that at PMC, you have the ultimate legal protection. |
