Marc Cornstein, the agent for Darko Milicic, received a phone call late Tuesday night from his client.
It was different from any of the previous calls between the two because Milicic had started his first game against Atlanta, played a career-high 30 minutes and scored a career-high 16 points.
"I talked to him last night and two hours ago," Cornstein said Wednesday. "He's a happy camper for a day. He was very excited. ...
"He just wants the opportunity to show what he can do. He was happy he made the most of it."
Milicic said he wasn't nervous. His agent, disagrees.
"I'm sure he was a little nervous because he's human and that's only natural," Cornstein said. "I would probably say anxious was a better word than nervous. I think he was anxious to show everyone across the board he's not only capable of playing, but can be a good player in this league.
"I saw some highlights. What was great about it was he showed a good repertoire. He recovered from the three early fouls and settled into the flow of the game. He had three blocked shots and a couple of assists."
Cornstein said Milicic might have been wrongly portrayed in January when he voiced his displeasure over being glued to the bench.
"This dates back to something he said being blown out of proportion before the Orlando game and he voiced frustration over not playing," Cornstein said. "I thought everything was taken out of proportion. He was frustrated in not paying, and what player wouldn't be frustrated over not playing."
