Stampede forward earns second post-season award
The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Idaho Stampede All-Star forward/center Sam Clancy was named the 2004-05 League Most Valuable Player, as voted on by CBA head coaches. It is the second post-season
award for Clancy, who was also named the CBA Defensive Player of the Year on Thursday, March 17.

In 48 games (46 started) with the Stampede, Clancy averaged 19.1 points (tied for 7th in the league) and 10.8 rebounds (2nd in the league) per contest. He also added 2.2 blocked shots (3rd in the league), 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals per contest, while shooting 51.6 percent (324 of 628) from the floor, and 73.0 percent (270 of 370) from the free-throw line.
The 6-foot-7, 240-pound University of Southern California alum (?02) was a three-time CBA Player of the Week award winner, including back-to-back honors from January 9th through the 22nd, when he averaged 26.9 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. Clancy was
also named to the Western Conference All-Star Team where he posted game highs of 25 points and 17 rebounds en route to being named MVP of the 21st CBA All-Star Classic on January 19. The game MVP was voted on by media and scouts from 29 different NBA teams in attendance.
Great Lakes center Jackie Butler was second in the balloting, while Sioux Falls Skyforce guard Randy Livingston finished third. Both Butler (New York
Knicks) and Livingston (Utah Jazz) are currently in the NBA.
To be eligible for CBA Most Valuable Player, players must have played in 24 (1/2 of the 48 game schedule) games and be in good standing with the CBA. Coaches could not vote for their own players.
On Tuesday, March 22, the All-League First and Second Teams will be announced.
