| Pedja Samardziski Draft Diary: Week One |
PEDJA'S DRAFT DIARY: Projected first-round selection Predrag "Pedja" Samardziski recently arrived in the United States to prepare himself for the draft. The 18-year-old Macedonian
center will be contributing a weekly diary entry each Wednesday leading up to the week of the draft:
It's Sunday morning. I'm on my way to the airport and my heart is beating so fast. I am on my way to the land I have been dreaming about for so long. It was a long flight but when I came to New York City I was not thinking about being tired. I was only thinking about working out for NBA teams, the people I was going to meet and the things I would see. I was so excited.
From the moment I left the airport, I could not keep my eyes still. I was so thrilled to finally be here and when I saw the building and the skyline of Manhattan, it was better than anything I could have dreamed of. I could not sleep the first
night. I was trying not to sleep because I thought in the morning everything might be gone. But it was not.
It was my second day in New York. My agent's wife and I went for a walk through New York City. It was unbelievable. We walked through the Upper East Side, Central Park, and arrived at the NBA Store. The first week, I practiced every day with my
coach Semi at the Sports Club/LA, adjusted to the time difference and met my roommate, Damir Omerhodzic. I couldn't wait to have my first workout in Boston.
When we got to Boston, I was excited like the time I landed in New York City. I went to bed early so that the morning would come faster and I would have my first NBA workout. This was a
moment I had prepared for my whole life. I gave 100% and I didn't want to give up for one minute. The competition was tough, but I will never give up. You get one chance. I know this is the moment.
Until next time,
Pedja
